It is safe to say we know Canadians love our coffee, but did you know just how much?
A lot.
As in coffee and tap water are what we drink the most, by a long shot. And we drink more coffee than water.
So yeah, a lot.
In November 2018, the Coffee Association of Canada presented a range of interesting findings about the coffee drinking habits and preferences of Canadians.
Some other interesting findings include:
- More people continue to drink espresso-based specialty drinks - 24% (up from 14% in 2014)
- 5% of Canadians are now getting their coffee delivered (think subscriptions, online orders)
- 7% of Canadians used an app to order their cup of coffee

Coffee is a billion-dollar industry here in our country of just over 37 million people. Major chains are vying for our coffee change with loyalty programs - even Tim Hortons has just released a Rewards Card program to join their competition! And with 16% of coffee drinkers now using loyalty programs, it is not a bad idea.
We really love our coffee. Yup, we do.
